Trouble ‘coffin’ up Halloween costume ideas?

With Halloween costumes, it’s usually the case of the good, the bad, and the “sassy.” At Carmel High School, two of three are acceptable to wear to class. And if you are thinking about being a Victoria’s Secret angel, realize it has been done, and yes, they received potato sacks. Stuck on what to wear? Here are just a few sources of inspiration.

ROOM FOR THE DEBATE
The 2016 presidential race is already in full swing, and with it means the creepy and humorous world of politically themed Halloween costumes. Consider a Hillary Clinton ensemble: Short bob, old school cell phone and an orange jumpsuit. Maybe a plastered comb over and a large “You suck” sign or the “Donna T Rumpshaker” costume available from Yandy.com for only $69.95.

A LAND FAR FAR AWAY
Princesses, big bad wolves, Red Riding Hoods and witches are also making their comeback this year in a darker and more adult form. From the new season of “Once Upon a Time” to the theatrical release of “Into the Woods” and the new “Cinderella” reimagining, Hollywood has provided a fairy large wealth of material.

YES, THEY REALLY GOT THEIR OWN MOVIE
The yellow, pint-sized, gibberish tongue minions from “Despicable Me,” “Despicable Me 2” and “Minions” have captured the consumerist heart of America. Prepare to see Kevin, Stuart and Bob flying off Halloween costume store shelves across America and parading through the trick-or-treating neighborhoods of suburbs everywhere.

THE 80s STRIKES BACK
With “Jurassic Park,” “Poltergeist,” “Point Break,” “Terminator” and “Star Wars” all receiving remakes in this year, theatergoers may wonder whether they have been transported to a different decade or if Hollywood has officially giving up on new ideas. Oct. 21, 2015 will also mark the date Marty McFly went “Back to the Future,” and the 30th anniversary of a classic science-fiction trilogy chock full of iconic costumes from four time periods and an alternate universe.

Still stuck? You can always grab a pair scissors, cut two slits and throw a sheet over yourself to hide your shame for a lack of originality in costuming. Just make sure to check with the folks first, otherwise you may be reporting back from beyond the grave.
