Superbowl raffle holds promise

The third annual CHS Super Bowl Raffle Fundraiser is in full swing and appears to be outpacing prior Super Bowl raffle fundraising success.

According to College and Career Center coordinator Patricia Hunt, there are 18 on-campus programs selling tickets this year. For each ticket purchased, 80 percent of the funds are appropriated directly to the program which sold them. Hunt explains that 10 percent of the total proceeds are donated to Padre Parents to comply with California law codes regarding legal raffles.

This year’s fundraiser has generated about 20 percent of its ambitious $75,000 goal since it began in early October. Though the fundraiser has collectively raised $100,000 in the past two years, Hunt explains that the progress of this year’s fundraiser is substantially better than that of either of the previous two annual fundraisers.

With just over a month left until the Dec. 14 drawing, there is still plenty of money to raise.

Over $12,000 worth of prizes has been donated to this year’s fundraiser, including the generous donation of two Super Bowl tickets by Faye and Alex Spanos. Dea and Ron Berberian have also charitably donated the $2,000 grand prize spending money. Other prizes include passes to the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival, two $500 cash prizes and a dinner for eight at the Il Fornaio Restaurant in Carmel.
