CHS’ second annual Super Bowl raffle fundraiser is being held until Dec. 15, benefiting various CHS organizations.
The raffle is more than just a Super Bowl raffle, though, as “there are many other great prizes as well,” according to Patricia Hunt, the College and Career Center counselor.
Two Super Bowl tickets and $2,000 for expenses, donated by Ron and Dea Berberian, comprise the grand prize. Other prizes include tickets to the Pebble Beach Food and Wine festival, the AT&T National Pro-Am, the Concours d’Elegance and the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
“The raffle motive came from my search for additional funds for CHS scholarships,” Hunt says. Regarding last year’s fundraiser, Hunt notes, “we added $16,000 to Carmel High School Scholarships from the raffle.”
Padre Parents, the organization responsible for the CHS Scholarship Fund, receives 10 percent of all the funds, another 10 percent is directed to administrative costs, and the remaining 80 percent is allocated towards the selling organizations, which include AVID, Music Boosters, field hockey, football, girls’ volleyball, competitive cheer, Sober Grad and ASB, according to Hunt.
In its first year, the raffle was hugely successful.
“Last year we raised $50,000. All of it went directly to CHS organizations and scholarships.”
Tickets are available from all the listed organizations or from Patricia Hunt and cost $25 per ticket or $100 for five tickets. As Hunt says, “We have confirmed over $12,000 in prizes, so the tickets are well worth the money.”
