CUSD retiree LaVerne McLeod’s TEDx talk

Doing what she can to help stop discrimination, former Carmel Middle School teacher LaVerne McLeod recently delivered “Breaking Ground to Plant New Racial Identities,” a TEDx talk through San Jose State University, weaving a tapestry of stories from the educator’s own life to address present-day realities and possibilities for the future.

The Carmel Sandpiper first shared news of McLeod’s storytelling in 2017 when student writer Alex Poletti spoke with the author about her autobiographically inspired novel, Corn Hollow.
