Although CCS champion Kodiak Sauer brought great individual success to the wrestling program last year, Carmel wrestling has yet to win an MTAL title in the school’s history.
“Winning league has never been done,” senior Jason Moser says. “However, this year, we have the tools and the coaches that make it possible to win the first ever title.”
All the returning wrestlers have on thing in mind.
“The goal is to win league as a team,” junior Connor Mooneyham says. “That would be a dream come true.”
The wrestling team is going to have much more athletes than in previous years. It will be anchored by a skillful group of seniors, who have been improving in the off-season.
The team is also full of young, talented freshman who look promising for the program’s future.
“We are going to have great senior leadership and extremely hardworking underclassmen,” senior Santana Ponce says.
The team is known for always working hard, whether it is during the coach’s extremely difficult conditioning or battling other wrestlers.
This work ethic will just may lead the wrestling team to prosperity in the upcoming season.
