Well, it is that time of year again. I’m not talking about college apps or even the Starbucks pumpkin spice latté. Yes, I’m talking about powderpuff. That time when girls don skimpy fishnets and tube dresses to impersonate law enforcement, throw on sans-lense glasses to be “nerds” and try to rally some school spirit around this place.
While I appreciate their efforts, I prefer to stand on the sidelines when it comes to this sort of thing. I don’t see the purpose of girls getting wrapped up in a “football” game that will be forgotten in a week. Besides, who has the time to attend countless evening practices, dance rehearsals and the Thursday night sleepover? Don’t even get me started on the dance. Susan B. Anthony and Betty Friedan are already rolling in their graves.
The one thing I appreciate about powderpuff, while I almost hate to admit it, is the cheerleaders, dancing with reckless abandon and leaving self-consciousness at home. The camaraderie and energy that the guys bring is awesome. It is easily the most entertaining part of the game. Sorry, girls.
If you want to read more about powderpuff and rumors of unfairness, we have an article for that. If the Nine Inch Nails album or boxing is more of your thing, we have articles for that too. So after you party it up at the Powderpuff game, check out the rest of The Sandpiper.
