Leadership Carmel’s Class of 2026 is raising $30,000 to install a new set of outdoor musical instruments—called Harmony Habitat—at Forest Hill Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

The installation is a part of this year’s “legacy project,” in which each Leadership Carmel class leaves a permanent addition to the community. This year, the current cohort wanted something that blended youth, music and the outdoors.

“I’m most excited about this bringing kids and families an interactive experience,” explains Leslie Pinkerton, a clinical dietitian, diabetes educator and member of the 2026 class. “We’d love for people to know about it so we can get the word out about fundraising.”

The installation has not yet been built, but the group will see the project through until completion. Donations will go toward purchasing the instruments and their installation.

Leadership Carmel, which began in 2020, is a nine-month personal and professional development program run by the Carmel Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

“This year’s class is smart, engaged and deeply committed to serving the Carmel community,” says Jeanne Frew, the program’s co-director and co-owner of Frew & Associates, a professional development and executive coaching business. “They’ve put real thought and heart into this project.”

More information on how to donate to the cause is on the Carmel Chamber of Commerce website at carmelchamber.org/lc2026.
