Sweat, blood and tears—these are three words that would be best to describe Francis Lawrence’s movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
Much to my dismay, the book, written by Suzanne Collins, is hardly anything like the movie. The book is more gruesome in many parts whereas the movie just skipped out on those scenes. Also, in the movie, there are quite a few scenes that Collins doesn’t write in the book.
Basically, the whole movie is about how much Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) wants to kill President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Throughout the whole movie, she keeps on telling everyone that she will be the one to kill Snow. We get it, Katniss! You want revenge.
So, for almost the whole two hours of the movie, we witness their journey to the Capital. We watch everyone die around Katniss and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), including the person that saved Katniss’ life in the Quarter Quell, Finnick (Sam Claflin).
While on their way to kill Snow, they travel underground in the sewers. Five people die from “mutts” released by the capital when they are trying to save Katniss so she could, you guessed it, kill President Snow. At the end of the movie, we see that those people died for nothing. Katniss didn’t even kill Snow. She ended up killing President Coin (Julianne Moore) instead with an arrow to the heart.
The movie is well done. However, it is definitely not as good as the last three. The suspense is there, but there is no one great scene that captured my interest. The ending didn’t leave me excited or make me want there to be another movie. Like every romance movie, the ending is predictable; the girl and the guy get together and live happily ever after.
The ending shows Peeta and Katniss in a green field. They have two kids, are living back in district 12 and are happy. The sad part of that ending is the fact that Peeta has to ask Katniss if things about her are true or false.
The fighting scenes are about the only great thing about the movie; the rest is just okay. There is too much drama and romance for me. But, if you have already seen the other three movies, it may be fun to watch it just because you can. However, you should make sure to read the books before you watch the movies. It will help you better understand certain parts in the movie.
