Junior Ryan Lott has been a linchpin of a currently rebuilding girls’ soccer team for the last three years and looks to lead the team to a strong season this winter after her return from club.

Last season the girls’ team ended sixth in league, but the club player expresses hope for the upcoming season. Lott scored 11 goals and recorded 10 assists in her previous high school season when the girls went 3-7-2.

“We have a lot of really strong freshmen and some other club players that I think will contribute to the team,” says Lott. “I’d love to make CCS.”

The central midfielder chose to pursue club soccer, but unlike many of her peers that continued with local clubs, she sought out an advanced soccer academy and joined the Los Gatos United Soccer Club.

“It’s a high-level academy so we play at the national level with a lot of colleges watching,” says Lott. “It’s a lot more intense than the high school season.”

It’s against California Interscholastic Federation rules for an athlete to participate in both high school and club sports at one time, so Lott is expected to make her return to the high school varsity team after the end of the club season in December.

The junior is personally looking forward to her return to the high school team. As a central midfielder, she emphasizes her ball control and stamina.

“My selling point is my technical skills,” says Lott.

Teammates describe Ryan Lott as a hard working and experienced player.

“She has an exceptional vision of the field and always anticipates the defenses next move,” says senior Charlotte Mayer.

The girls are 1-1 through Dec. 4 and will play Everett Alvarez on Dec. 18.
