Pay School Fees of $50. Friends of Carmel Unified Schools is putting the emphasis on fun in its latest fundraising venture by developing a Carmel-inspired board game based off of the world-famous Monopoly, fittingly named Carmelopoly.
FOCUS, an organization who provides grants and other resources to students and teachers of Carmel schools, will be launching Carmelopoly this fall in order to add to the Community Chest, featuring local businesses, schools and even teachers.
The game will be sold through the FOCUS website and at a number of local retailers for $29.99 each (Monopoly money is not accepted) and will be sold until the goal of $50,000 is met, no matter how long it takes, according to Kay Vetter, the FOCUS representative for CHS.
The cost to produce the game is substantial at an approximate $23,000; however, a mortgage is not needed for the fundraiser since most of the cost will be covered by businesses, which can purchase spaces on the board or on the Community Chest or Chance cards for between $250 and $750, depending on the space.
There is another aspect of the fundraiser not open to the public. CUSD teachers and staff have the Chance to sponsor and design a Fate card through a raffle with tickets costing $5.
The deadlines for purchasing spaces and raffle tickets have passed, but for more information regarding Carmelopoly, contact Carmel-opoly@outlook.com.
