Celsius flavors fall short of expectations

Fueled by caffeine and strong opinions, we ranked Celsius to investigate the fizz. Courtesy of CELSIUS HOLDINGS, INC.

Crack open a Celsius, a highly caffeinated energy drink, and the first thing that hits isn’t the caffeine, it’s the flavor. From delicious to nearly toxic, Celsius has a plethora of flavors to try. Unfortunately, most miss the mark.

Arctic Vibe

From the first taste and smell, Arctic Vibe is by the far the most noxious flavor. The sourness makes it taste like an expired Redbull hiding in a Celsius can, and the bright blue color of the outside design is offputting. This was the only flavor we had to throw out, because we couldn’t convince a single person to finish it.2/10

Grape

Even though it tastes like cold medicine, for desperate all-nighter situations Grape beats Arctic Vibe any day. The sickly sweet flavor coats your taste buds, lingering as an unhappy reminder. 3/10

Mixed Berry

Similar to Grape, Mixed Berry has the cough syrup taste, but less sweet. The berry flavor is actually slightly pleasant, until the tangy metallic aftertaste hits and doesn’t go away. 4/10

Orange

A mediocre flavor, but noticeably less sweet than the other ones, which grants it points. It almost tastes like a mild orange soda, which could be good, except orange in general is a bad flavor, and after finishing the whole thing, we felt sick. 5/10

Mango Peach

Fizz-free flavors shouldn’t even be on this list, since carbonation is the only thing that makes Celsius remotely edible, but this flavor wasn’t actually that bad. It tastes almost like mango peach sweet tea, but with the distinct metallic, vitamin-like after taste of Celsius. 6/10

Peach Vibe

Unfortunately, Peach Vibe isn’t as good as the name makes it sound. Its alarmingly red color feels like a warning for the coffee-like taste mixed with sour peach, which leaves the drinker disappointed. However, the peach flavor isn’t too bad and strangely addicting once you get used to the coffee taste. 7/10

Mango Passionfruit

Arguably just as delicious as the top flavor, the fact that it’s nowhere to be found in stores brings it down a bit. Satisfyingly sweet with a nice blend of mango flavor and the fresh tartness of passionfruit. 8/10

Kiwi Guava

Despite lacking both kiwi and guava flavor, Kiwi Guava, unlike most Celsius, doesn’t taste like something that would give you a heart attack. A mixture of fruit punch flavors, it has a pleasant aftertaste that leaves you wanting more. 9/10
